ARK Survival Evolved Dev Comments On Optimization For Xbox One, DX12 Support, Early Access PS4, More

ARK: Survival Evolved

ARK Survival Evolved is a technical mess on Xbox One but this is not surprising to see since the game has been clearly marked as an early access release and it is still in “pre-alpha” stage of development. The developers are planning to release the final version of the game this year and according to them, the optimization won’t happen until last 3 months of development.

ARK Survival Evolved creator director has commented on the state of the game as an early access title for the Xbox One after the game was revealed to be a technical mess with frame rate barely averaging out at 30 fps, and hitting as low as 8 fps at times.

We also learn that the game was up and running on Xbox in mid November so not a lot of time has passed in its development yet. According to Jesse, the game still requires more than 6 months of development and the last three months will be used for optimization.

If you were hoping for Ark Survival Evovled on PS4, you will have to wait until the game’s development is done as Sony hasn’t allowed any early access release on their platform.

ARK Survival Evolved is a great success on Xbox One for the developers and we learn that the peak concurrent users was 1.7x PC on January 20th, which is the highest since August last year.

ARK Survival Evovled will support DirectX 12 and the developers have promised to release it as soon as it is ready “inside of UE4 and across all hardware targets.”

Lastly we learn what vision the developers have for the final version of the game.

ARK Survival Evolved is currently available as an early access game for the PC and Xbox One.
