Assassin’s Creed 3 On Nintendo Switch Continues The Streak Of Bad Ports, Drops Below 20 FPS

Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered has been released on the Nintendo Switch and the early impressions of the game are far from positive. The visuals and performance both are a major step back from their other console counterparts making it another bad port after the recent Resident Evil games.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered takes a step back from the improved visuals featured on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It doesn’t seem to be able to offer anything substantial for a visual upgrade and to top it off, the performance is just abysmal where it doesn’t even hit 30 FPS for the majority of the gameplay.

ContralNetwork has shared a frame rate analysis of Assassin’s Creed 3 Remastered showing the performance in both docked and handheld mode. The result is far from ideal for a game that was first released on last generation consoles. It doesn’t manage to hold 30 FPS for most of the game and the frame rate is not even locked 30 FPS and can go to 31 FPS creating the effect of judder when playing the game.

The worst parts of the game are when the frame rate continues to average between 30 and 20 FPS when roaming in the open world. It also drops below 20 FPS during certain fight sequences which makes for a bad experience overall. This is in addition to the lack of visual upgrades like the new lighting engine, which is missing from this version.
