Assassin’s Creed 3 Remaster Doesn’t Even Run At Native 4K On PS4 Pro Or Xbox One X

Assassin’s Creed 3 Remaster is available now for the PS4 and Xbox One. It was marketed as a 4K release but apparently, despite being a remaster of an old game, it doesn’t quite come close to achieving 4K on the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X.

Assassin’s Creed 3 Remaster has been analyzed by both Digital Foundry and VG Tech. First, it was shared by Digital Foundry that the game indeed runs at 4K resolution but later they clarified their mistake. VG Tech confirmed that the game admittedly runs at a lower than the 4K resolution on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.

According to their finding, Assassin’s Creed 3 Remaster runs at around 1500p on the PS4 Pro. It doesn’t quite hit native 4K on the Xbox One X either and seems to fall behind at 1800p.

Since this remaster also comes with Assassin’s Creed 3 Liberation, the situation there is different and the game really runs at native 4K on both platforms there.

The frame rate on both these mid-generation consoles is also disappointing and runs at 30 FPS. The game seems to play fine on the regular PS4 and Xbox One with a resolution of 1080p and 900p respectively. The improved lighting feels like a big downgrade for certain cutscenes but overall, the remaster is an improvement if you can ignore its flaws.
