Assassin’s Creed Origins is out today for the PS4, PC and Xbox One. The game is still a reboot for the Assassin’s Creed series featuring completely new combat and gameplay mechanics making it more like an open world action RPG.
Ubisoft hasn’t really shared details on the PS4 version of the game and while we have already covered the PS4 Pro version in the form of screenshots and a video of gameplay, we were curious to see how the regular PS4 version holds up against the PS4 Pro.
The screenshots below are taken from the regular PS4 version that appears to run at 1080p resolution with slightly pared down visuals, particularly in term of the shadows and lighting quality compared to the PS4 Pro. The game still looks great on both platforms and with the release of the upcoming Xbox One X, it should be interesting to see how that version will compare to the PS4 Pro.
Resolution is obviously the big difference but some shadow and texture quality also appears to have taken a slight hit on the regular PS4. The game still looks great though but it is obvious it had to be tweaked down in order to run on the PS4. As for the frame rate, the opening cutscene can drop frames on both platforms but the rest of the beginning chapter, atleast near the opening prologue, was mostly solid 30 fps without any major issues in the way.
Assassin’s Creed Origins will be out today for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
