During an interview with Godisageek, John Hardin, PR Manager for Atlus USA reaffirmed that Persona 5 will see release exclusively on the PS4 and PS3 in 2015, both in Japan and North America. However, Hardin declined to give a confirmation regarding the game’s European release.
Hardin added that it would be wise to announce things once they are set in stone, and therefore giving a premature release window for Persona 5’s Eurpean release would not be fruitful.
Europe seems to be getting a few Atlus releases later than North America, and there have even been some listings for 2016 for Persona 5 published by Square Enix. “That’s just completely wrong. A lot of people assume that this is correct because they published something back in what, 2008? It just isn’t true. I’m working on getting those incorrect listing removed. We are trying to get publishers locked in for our titles in EU and will announce things when they are locked in. We don’t want another Shin Megami Tensei IV or Devil Survivor Overclocked situation. We are very aware of what happens when we make premature announcements for Europe. At least I am. The only thing I can confirm for Persona 5 is 2015.
Given the PR Manager’s confidence and Atlus’ continued reassurance regarding Persona 5’s 2015 release in North America, it would appear that the developer is keeping the game close to its chest and unwilling to share anything for now. Perhaps this year’s Tokyo Game Show is where we’ll finally hear a concrete release date.
We’ll keep you posted on future announcements concerning Persona 5’s final release date and availability. In the meantime, let us know when you think the game will see release this year in the comments below.
