Dark Souls Remastered is out on May 25th for the PC, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One. The game is expected to be offer improved resolution and frame rate on all platforms along with an improvement to the multiplayer player count, which has been increased to 6 concurrent players from the previous 4.
Dark Souls was originally released with an atrocious state on PC however thanks to mods, the game ended up being a huge success with more than 2 million copies sold so far. After the announcement of a remaster, there was a rumor from the Bandai Namco store that listed that the game might end up with upto 50% discount for the users of the original Dark Souls on Steam store.
As it is the case with such rumors, the news spread like wildfire and the PC community celebrated it, until a recent article by PCGamer confirmed through an official source from Bandai Namco that there is no discount for owners of the original Dark Souls. This has now been followed up by the community manager at Bandai Namco EU who has posted on Steam confirming the earlier statement but adding that they haven’t decided on a discount yet.
Hi guys, Izmar here, new community manager for Bandai Namco EU. Nice to meet you all! I just wanted to step in very quickly and say that right now, we haven’t officially announced anything about the subject of a discount. I’m not sure who PCGamer’s source is, but it seems like they could be someone who isn’t in the loop about what’s going on, RE: discounts.
