Black Ops 4 PC Tip: How to Avoid Graphics Settings getting reset on restart

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 like any other PC game stores its game configuration in the config.ini file, however some people are getting an annoying glitch where the settings get reset whenever you restart the game.

This is can be due to a multitude of factors mainly due to GeForce Experience optimizations if you have an NVIDIA card or more commonly when the file is synced with Battle.net files. To avoid this we need to tweak a setting in the Black Ops 4 config.ini file so that the file doesn’t change back the edits you made to it.

Black Ops 4 Tip: Get a huge FPS boost on PC by tweaking shadows

First find the Black Ops 4 config.ini file, it’s normally in the following directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Call of Duty Black Ops 4\players\config.ini

Open the file and look for the following setting:

//Set to zero to force auto-detect to run at startup

auto_detect_has_run = “0” // 0 or 1

Change the “0” to “1”.

This will make sure the config.ini doesn’t get reset on startup.

Some users recommended by making the file read-only but that won’t work, as the file will be reset as it was before on startup if this tweak wasn’t applied.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
