Based on the classic Blaster Master, which was released in 1988 for NES, Inti Creates and Sunsoft are developing a new platformer, named Blaster Master Zero. The remake/reboot will be made available for Nintendo 3DS.
The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where people have decided to move underground to protect themselves from the harsh conditions of a new ice age, as a result of numerous wars. As humans return back to surface from the depths of the earth, they discover that a meteorite has crashed into the planet.
The game proceeds as a young robotic engineer, Jason Frudnick, spots a strange vehicle named “SOPHIA 3rd”. He gets in the vehicle, and begins his quest to explore the subterranean world where mankind once resided.
Inti Creates announced that the new game, titled Blaster Master Zero, will be released on the Nintendo 3DS eshop in Spring 2017. The announcement was made at the 20th Anniversary Fan Fest, held in Ichikawa Japan. This will be the second remake of the original 8-Bit Nintendo Entertainment System game, after Blaster Master Overdrive for Wii which was released in 2010.
It is rumored that the game will have additional sub-weapons, new vehicles, updated game mechanics, and several extra areas to explore. Fans are excited for the reboot of a nearly three decade old game and seem eager to try it out.
