The official box art for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has been revealed by Activision. Fans of the series will notice plenty of things in common with the box art for the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, including an Easter egg.
The most glaring similarity is the position and posture of the soldier. The protagonist for the original Black Ops was also prominently featured with a pair of guns on its box art.
A closer look at the character’s weapons also reveals a hidden Easter egg. The name “Sally” engraved on one of the guns, just like it was on one of the guns featured on the Call of Duty: Black Ops box art. Presumably, the other gun is probably called “Mustang”, as that’s what the pair of guns were referred to in the original.
Black Ops 3’s pair of guns are far more advanced than the Colt M1911 seen on the box art for the original, however, given how it takes place in a futuristic dystopian setting. The combo of Mustang and Sally is a throwback to “Mustang Sally”, a 1965 song by Mack Rice.
Black Ops 3 is scheduled for release on November 6, and will be available for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC platforms.
