For the past couple of years, Xbox has not only been the lead development console for the Call of Duty franchise, but with each iteration we have seen exclusive DLC content on Microsoft’s Xbox. There is a possibility that the Xbox exclusive content spell may break with this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
Historically, Call of Duty has been loyal to the Xbox brand with the game always being demoed on Xbox, and all promotions carrying the Xbox logo. Conventionally, Xbox owners also enjoyed 30-day DLC exclusivity. However it seems the tide is changing its direction this year as UK Xbox One page does not show exclusive content for Black Ops 3, as can be seen in the picture below.
Exclusive games and exclusive content is normally branded with the corresponding titles, but the Black Ops 3 corner seems barren for the time being. The hypothesis is furthered by the fact that VG247’s preliminary Black Ops 3 experience was on a PS4 system. If this turns out to be true, we can assume that Sony is taking some serious measures to make up for a sparse 2015 first party line-up
Regardless, we are curious for a proper Black Ops 3 reveal at E3. Stay tuned for more coverage.
