Next Call of Duty Is Potentially Going To Be Modern Warfare 4 [Rumor]

Infinity Ward is teasing a new Call of Duty game, but it doesn’t appear to be any recent sequel or a new game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was last year’s release and going into 2019, the teasers for the next Call of Duty have started by Infinity Ward. Call of Duty development is rotated on a yearly basis between Infinity Ward, Treyarch Studios and Sledgehammer Games.

It should be no secret by now that after launching Infinite Warfare in 2016, it is time for Infinity Ward to make their return this year. What is going to be their next game is still up in the air, but it is not going to be a sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts. This leaves us with Infinite Warfare, World at War and Modern Warfare. Now World at War is too similar to World War 2 that launched in 2017, so we can rule it out.

Infinite Warfare was a good game that was bogged down by some stupid decisions. It is also the second worst selling Call of Duty game this generation so we can rule it out as well. Activision is not going to dump more money into something that they are not confident will make them bigger revenue.

Modern Warfare is a fan-favorite series that is equal or even greater in popularity than Black Ops. This is the one that makes the more likely sense as a sequel for this year. The teaser also lines up with this theory as it hints at Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley’s character, who wore a skull-patterned balaclava. It doesn’t sound far-fetched to assume Modern Warfare 4 is the what the teaser is alluding to for Call of Duty 2019.
