Call of Duty 2018 might be Black Ops 4 as a leak has been spotted internally from an alleged Gamestop employee that shows the popular retail store listing several merchandise that are marked as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. This is not the first time this rumor has surfaced online and infact the original and more credible source was from Eurogamer who confirmed that Treyarch is developing the next Call of Duty game, titled as Black Ops 4.
There aren’t many details known about this potential Black Ops 4 project however expect to hear about it soon at the upcoming E3. Call of Duty: Black Ops is the most famous entry in the series and this shows in the sequel. It is the only named entry after Modern Warfare to have reached the 4th sequel. While Black Ops 3 might have failed to reach the same popularity as Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which remains the peak for the franchise, it still was one of the best selling game this generation until Call of Duty: World War 2.
The leak was shared by Charlie Intel who have cited sources inside Gamestop and shared an image of what appears to be the listing for the merchandise for Black Ops 4. The listing shows there is zero stock for it but it is possible that Activision might officially reveal it before E3 with a full blown gameplay demonstration set for E3 2018 as it has been the case for some of the past Call of Duty games.
Call of Duty games are developed by 3 separate studios. They are usually rotated between Treyarch, Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games. The last Call of Duty was by Sledgehammer Games while the one before that was from Infinity Ward so it won’t be surprising to see Treyarch returning back to the series this year.
