Capcom Is Discussing Revival Of Onimusha IP Internally At “High Levels”, Says Capcom Producer

Yoshinori Ono is the main guy behind the popular Street Fighter series from Capcom and he is also a producer for various other projects at Capcom including the now defunct Deep Down. Recently Yoshinori Ono was interviewed by DailyStar UK and he gave an interesting response on the fate of the Onimusha IP.

According to the Capcom producer, the company is discussing the fate of the series at very “high levels.”

Capcom as a company know we have many brands, IP’s and series that are beloved by players around the world and we always have fans asking us, when is this or that game coming back. I’ve spoken internally with people who made Onimusha with me originally and talked about maybe how interesting it would be to revisit that series. But fans should know that we’re not further down that road than the discussion phase. Right now, I’m so focused on Street Fighter V that I’m not really in a position to start that same level of battle that I had getting Street Fighter IV made.

While this doesn’t confirm a new game from the series, it does give us hope that Capcom might revisit it one day.

As it stands, the last Onimusha game that was released was over two generation ago. After the original Onimusha story ended with its trilogy of games, Capcom released an Onimusha spin-off called Dawn of Dreams on the PS2. The series has been in hibernation ever since then, but hopefully it can return one day as it seems like Capcom still hasn’t forgotten it.
