CDPR Is Looking Into Draw Distance Issues For Witcher 3 After HDR Patch For PS4

The Witcher 3 has finally received it HDR update for the PS4 and PS4 Pro, however the performance of the game seems to have suffered somewhat with the latest patch modifying the draw distance on the PS4 Pro. This has resulted in all sorts of objects popping up closer to the player which distracts from the overall experience.

The Witcher 3 received its major update on the Xbox One X that added HDR for the first time since its launch and also included performance and visuals mode. The patch for the PS4 Pro was released before the Xbox One X update and while it added support fro the PS4 Pro hardware, it didn’t include the HDR update.

CDPR: No Plan To Implement HDR Support For Witcher 3 On PC, PS4 Update Next Year

CD Project Red confirmed later that they will release an update for the PS4 Pro users later this year when they will implement HDR support. The update was deployed a while ago and it seems to have started another set of new issues especially when it comes to the level of detail scaling on the PS4 Pro. The performance is better now on the native 1080p mode, but if you run it at a higher resolution, the pop-in issue can distract from the main experience.

It has now been confirmed by CD Project Red that the development team has taken notice of this issue although they didn’t specify whether they have any plans to fix it anytime soon.
