Chasm, the 2D Metroid-like action RPG, has surpassed its Kickstarter goal after reaching the funding goal of $150,000 five days earlier. Developer Discord Games thank all of its backers for their “amazing and truly inspiring support” after raising $191,897 from nearly 7,000 backers.
The developer has also begun taking pre-orders through their Humble store, with all money earned going towards their stretch goals even though funding is officially over.
The game is currently in development with more items being added as funding increases and is not scheduled to launch until May 2014, however a free demo (the same one from GDC) is available now for anyone unsure whether or not they want to spent the money on pre-ordering the title. I’ve put my own money down in the hopes that the Roguelike stretch goal is achieved.
You can find more information about Chasm on their official website, which includes a video as well for anyone curious about the gameplay.
