COD WWII Renders At Dynamic 4K On PS4 Pro, Solid Boost In FPS Over Base PS4

COD WWII offers extra enhancements fro the PS4 Pro hardware in addition to supporting the base PS4, although the game appears to play best on the PS4 Pro sticking closer to its target frame rate of 60 fps compared to the base PS4.

VG Tech has analyzed the final retail version of Call of Duty WWII and they have found out that the game utilizes a dynamic rendering resolution where the vertical axis is fixed at 2160p while the horizontal axis can drop as low as 960 and go high as 2640. This is not close to the native 4K resolution however as VG Tech states, ” temporal reconstruction technique” is used to improved the resolution on both the PS4 and PS4 Pro that results in a 4K image being rendered on screen on the PS4 Pro, although it also depends on the rendering load at that time.

Call of Duty: WWII

The major takeaway between the PS4 and PS4 Pro version is not the resolution but the frame rate that appears to more closely adhere to its 60 fps target on the PS4 Pro compared to drops to sub 50 fps on the base PS4. This drop is more severe during the cutscenes but less pronounced during general gameplay. The visual makeup is mostly identical between the both platforms but the improved resolution and performance is a nice upgrade for those who own a PS4 Pro.

COD WWII is available now for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
