Cyberpunk 2077 Currently In ‘Advanced Development Stage’, Has 300 People Working On It

CD Project Red is the developer of the critically acclaimed The Witcher series which has sold mroe than 25 million copies so far. This was led by the latest game, The Witcher 3, which has managed to sell more than 10 million copies across PS4, PC and Xbox One.

CD Project Red recently held an investors Q/A where they sharing some interesting information regarding their future and upcoming projects (via NeoGAF).

CD Project Red revealed a brand new IP, Cyberpunk 2077, before the launch of The Witcher 3. It was set in a futuristic world and it is currently in development at an ‘advanced stage’ as revealed by CDPR Founder Marcin Iwiński. He shared the development team size for Cyberpunk 2077, which is currently 300 developers strong. This is around 3/4 of the amount of people that they need to work on this project so they are still hiring for new positions including testers.

While the game is in advanced development stage, they still need plenty of time for it before they can commit to a release date. Don’t expect to hear anything about their project this year since Marcin made it clear that this year will be all about Gwent: The Witcher Card Game.

Marcin was also reluctant when inquired about a potential release date for Cyberpunk 2077. The project is currently announced without any platforms and since it is unlikely to see the game getting released this year, it might take a while before the official platforms are confirmed for it.
