Announced back in 2012, CDProjeckt Red’s upcoming FPSRPG Cyberpunk 2077 has hit a major development milestone with the game now being playable from start to finish.
Developers CDProjekt Red were only able to go into full production after they finished Witcher 3’s Blood and Wine DLC. The game now has a development team larger than Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt and runs on the developer’s brand new REDengine 4.
In an interview with Engadget, producer Richard Borzymowski provided fans with an update on the game’s development:
Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development for at least six years and its team recently hit a major milestone: The entire game is playable from start to finish. It doesn’t have all of the proper assets, playtesting or bug fixes in place, but seeing the story come together is a critical step in the development process,
This update is really promising as we currently have little to no idea about the release period of Cyberpunk 2077. Earlier this year at E3 was the first time we saw the game in action. In engine gameplay was also shown off but unfortunately only behind closed doors, however those who got a chance to see it had only good things to say.
Fingers crossed for a release late next year?
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
