Demon’s Souls started the whole craze about the Souls series and it was only available as a PS3 exclusive until last year, when the developers of the popular PS3 emulator, RPCS3, managed to run the game on a PC with the addition of improved resolution rendering to go with it.
Demon’s Souls suffers from a rather low resolution on the PS3 but the power of emulation allows you now to bypass this restriction and play the game at a higher resolution. A comparison between the 4K rendered Demon’s Souls on PC versus the PS3 original shows the benefit of this emulation quite well.
Of course, this is not going to be a perfect emulation experience for everyone and the PC specs that are listed along with the video are rather beefy, so it won’t be possible to get the same 4K experience on your own PC. But this still shows provided the right hardware, the game can truly shine on a PC. Although fans of the series can argue that the lack of online servers on PC will likely spoil the fun of Demon’s Souls.
The following are the specs listed by the user who made the video on his PC. This is just the initial phase of the emulator as it is still undergoing optimization so the specs are only going to get lower with time.
i7 7700k @4.6Ghz
16gb DDR4 3000Mhz RAM
GTX980ti 6gb
256gb M.2 SSD
Demon’s Souls is available now exclusively on the PS3. The game was developed by From Software while it was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in Japan and Atlus USA for Western release.
