Update: After IO Interactive posted an open letter last week, they were flooded with further questions, ideas and feedback. The good guys at IO have published another post on their website answering some of the most burning questions posed by the fans of the series.
It is understandable that the most obvious question would be “When is the game planned to be released?” but the answer was rather disappointing as they were unable to provide a definite timeframe for the launch saying
“The bad news is that we don’t have a specific date locked down just yet. The good news is that as soon as it is locked, we’ll let you know.”
You would also be disappointed to hear that they have not finalized a name for the game yet but they are “pretty close”.
In the original letter, the last-gen consoles were not mentioned and there was some confusion if the game would make its way on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii and it seems that this question reached the developers. Here is what they had to say on this
“Right now, our focus is only on PC and new generation consoles. We’ll let you know if anything changes.”
This statement might not endear IO to its fans but its better to wait for further clarification before jumping to any conclusions.
They also plan to unveil more detailed information through a blog post later ,
“We’re even planning to have some special blog posts later in the year with input from IOI developers. They’re in the best position to explain some of the updated mechanics and new features that we’re working on, so look out for those!”
We’ll provide you with more details as soon as its available so check back regularly.
END OF UPDATE!
In an open letter to the fans, the developers of the newest Hitman game, IO Interactive have lifted the lid on some details about the game. In the letter, which was written for the anxious fans who were eager to know what was going behind the scenes since not much information was made available about the game.
The developers confirmed that the game will be based on Glacier 2 engine and it will coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC (no word on Xbox 360 and PS3 as yet) however no ETA was provided.
According to the devs, the game will take the best elements from all the previous games and combine them in a “open, non-linear” sandboxed levels to ensure that Agent 47 has many different ways to accomplish his mission. Contracts mode will be back and it will also allow you to share your targets with your friends.
Here is what the letter stated
In the next game you will experience a globetrotting Agent 47 at the prime of his career – the apex predator stalking his prey across the world, with the support of his long-term handler Diana Burnwood and the whole of the ICA.
The game concentrates on the core Hitman fantasy of using a wide range of tools to take out a diverse group of targets across expansive, exotic locations around the world. We are building this game on the backbone of the Glacier 2 engine, using the best parts and what we have learnt through Hitman: Absolution and drawing inspiration from past titles like Contracts and Blood Money to fulfil the core Hitman fantasy. That means we’re packing in an extreme level of detail on the largest levels we have ever built for a Hitman game. We’ve adopted an open, non-linear level design approach to the game, ensuring the game will play out across huge, checkpoint-free, sandbox levels. Our aim is to create living, breathing and believable levels which will allow gamers to play around with the AI to create those unique moments every fan of the Hitman franchise loves.
Contracts Mode is back – you will be able to create and build challenges by experimenting with the large levels and possibilities within them. And of course, you can share them with the world and challenge your friends or foes to complete your hits. Your rules, your Contracts.
You will also be glad to hear that we have removed 47’s magic pockets. We believe that’s all we need to say about that subject.
That’s all the information given to us and even this is enough to excite some fans. More details will be provided in the future and I am sure you guys can not wait. What are thoughts on this game? Let us know in the comments
