Devil May Cry 5: Is Vergil in the game?

Devil May Cry 5 brings back all of the series’ main characters (except Lucia from DMC2), but is fan favorite Vergil in the game?

Vergil has been a series regular since the original Devil May Cry where he made his debut as Nelo Angelo, a demon under Mundus’ control. His real identity is Vergil, twin brother of Dante and the Human/Demon hybrid son of Sparda and Eva.

Vergil later got a full fledged outing in Devil May Cry 3, where he was the main rival and playable after you beat the game. He’s been a fan favorite ever since and many series veterans have wondered if he’ll be making a comeback in Devil May Cry 5.

Game director Hideaki Itsuno called Devil May Cry 5 the conclusion to the Sons of Sparda Saga so popular speculation was always that Vergil will be in Devil May Cry 5.

The truth is that Vergil is indeed in Devil May Cry 5 and that too as the main but hidden antagonist. V and Urizen, the newcomers to the series are actually two parts of Vergil that he separated using the Yamato he got back from Nero towards the start of the game. V is his human self and Urizen his demon self.

Towards the end of the game both V and Urizen join together and reform in Vergil who is now cured of his condition due to Urizen eating the blood fruit.

Vergil then becomes the final boss of the game as the eternal battle between the Sons of Sparda continue further. Its now up to Nero to stop the two brothers from destroying everything.
