Bandai Namco has released a Developer Diary for Digimon Survive that features the game’s Producers Tsuzuki Katsuaki and Habu Kazumasa. The sub-15 minute video includes a ton of inside information if you’re a fan of the franchise with those closest to the games going over how the Digimon Survive sub-series came into being.
The two game bosses also elaborate on the series’ struggles over the past decade with declined popularity in the West. That was of course overcome with Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth which went on to sell record numbers, with over 800,000 units sold to date.
They also talk about the emotional attachment that fans have and how Digimon Survive aims to cater to both hardcore and casual fans of the series.
Digimon Survive is currently in development for the PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC for a 2019 release in the West. The game will release a few months earlier in Japan but only on the PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
