Digimon World: Next Order announced for PS Vita in Japan

Although we’ll be getting Digimon World: Cyber Sleuth fairly soon, gamers in Japan can look forward to a brand new Digimon game just announced by Bandai Namco – Digimon World: Next Order. The game was announced through the latest issue of Japanese magazine V-Jump and is currently in development for the Playstation Vita.

Digimon World: Next Order will feature a new set of characters separate from the previous Digimon World games, however the series staple Digimon like Agumon and Gabumon will be returning. Further details are below (courtesy Shonen Gamez):

Takuto is the game’s main protagonist and a huge fan of Digimon. In 5th Grade he was a runner up to a Digimon game competition. He’s a senior in high school and just finishing up club activities. He will be partnered with Agumon and Gabumon which we all know about.

The scan above shows off a bit of the game’s art and a few screenshots which look fantastic. It also says that the “world will evolve” and “travel the world, alongside your loveable Digimon!”, so a typical Digimon World game really.

Taiki is on board as the game’s Character Designer. His previous work includes that on the upcoming Digimon Adventure Tri Anime (which I can’t wait for) and Lord of Vermillion III. He had the following to say on the game:

When I was in elementary school, I bought my first Digimon handheld, and it was the first time I fell in love with Digimon. As I was with my very own Digimon, I felt half of the pressure of my very own life.

I’m personally super excited for the game as its been so long since we’ve gotten a steady supply of good Digimon games. I’ve played a bit of the Japanese version of Cyber Sleuth and that game’s fantastic, hopefully Next Order is even better.

Digimon World: Next Order is slated for a 2016 release in Japan exclusively for the PS Vita. Hopefully this one gets localised as well!
