Dissidia Final Fantasy NT going free-to-play in Japan, Yuna (FFX) DLC Character announced

Square Enix has announced that Dissidia Final Fantasy NT will be going free-to-play in Japan, dubbed Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition. They also announced that Yuna from Final Fantasy X is coming as a DLC character and will be available in the Arcade version in the November update.

Yuna will be accompanied by a new staged called “Final Battlefield” that will release in December for free. The Arcade version will get it around a month earlier on November 15.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition releases on November 22 in Japan and will feature a changing roster of free playable characters with the option of purchasing character you like permanently. Gives new players an easy way into the game. A Western release has not been announced but we’re hopeful!

NT Free Edition will require Playstation Plus to play online and will feature one character from each of the character classes each week to choose from (Vanguard, Marksman, Assassin and Specialist). Progress for each character you don’t own will only be saved for when they come into rotation, while a tutorial for all characters will be available from the get go. You can choose to play Ranked Match (Solo), Ranked Match (Party), Custom Match, Gauntlet (Basic Course only) and Sparring Match with both free characters and the ones you buy. Unfortunately Dissidia Final Fantasy NT Free Edition will not have Story Mode and Treasure Mode, limiting shop purchases as well.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT is available now exclusively on the PS4.
