Dragon Quest XI is an upcoming RPG from Square Enix that is set to launch on the PS4 and Nintendo 3DS this year. This game is the first unique attempt from Square Enix to make a big budget RPG for consoles while also keeping a handheld version. It is also confirmed for Nintendo Switch although it remains to be seen which version it will get for it.
Square Enix has recently updated the official Dragon Quest XI website to share new screenshots of the game. These screenshots give us a glimpse at the town, new characters and more in the game.
Dragon Quest XI will run on Unreal Engine 4 on the PS4. It is a full open world RPG that is a return to the form for the series after the handheld only Dragon Quest IX and the online MMO Dragon Quest X.
While Dragon Quest XI is confirmed for a release in Japan this year, there is no confirmation of a possible Western release for it. Judging from Square Enix’s output for their Japanese developed games, it is possible that a localization announcement is made once the game is released in Japan this year.
Dragon Quest XI will be released on the PS4 and Nintendo 3DS this year while a Nintendo Switch version is set for a release sometime in the future.
