Koei Tecmo has finally released their long teased Dynasty Warriors 9. The game comes equipped with support for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, however sadly the support alone is not enough to make the game work on them as Dynasty Warriors 9 seems to be rather poorly optimized.
Here is a comparison between the two different modes that are available in the game. Cinematic mode prioritizes resolution while the Action mode prioritizes frame rate. This can be toggled through the settings menu when you start the game. This toggle can only be done before starting the game so it is not possible to interchange between the two modes directly.
Dynasty Warriors 9 also suffers from low resolution textures being loaded in memory thanks to the aggressive level-of-detail. This technique is usually used to save cost on memory and it is a rather aggressive implementation. Since this was the first open world Dynasty Warriors game, Koei Tecmo has tried to adopt its gameplay to an open world and as a result, there are plenty of visual and performance issues.
Dynasty Warriors 9 is available now for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game was developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo.
