EA developer shows just how slow Red Dead Redemption 2’s Response Time is; compares it to Destiny, Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed and more

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a methodical and steady game, but you may have noticed how slowly the game responds to your inputs and how annoying they get after the initial hype has waved off.

EA Motive’s Dan Lowe made a video showing just how slow the game’s Animation Priority and Response Time is  compared to other recently released AAA titles including Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Destiny 2. All games were tested on the PS4.

Check out the video below:

Although not the most accurate, the analysis does show what it set out to do.

According to the data, Red Dead Redemption 2 has the slowest input response with Destiny 2 responding the fastest to user input. Even the most “Cinematic” game on the list, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, fares really well, which some fans have dubbed to be slow compared to other titles released before it.

Personally I’ve noticed that the combat and action has even higher lag compared to the section Lowe compared. The game is certainly fun and enjoyable, but the experience could’ve been so much better if it was more responsive. Who know, maybe Rockstar deliberately did this to make the game feel “weighty” and “immersive”.

What do you think? Do you think Red Dead Redemption 2’s response time is too high or just right? Let us know in the comments.
