Epic Games Made Almost $3 Billion In Profit From Fortnite And Unreal Engine 4

2018 was one of the best years for Epic Games who rose to new fame with their free-to-play Fortnite Battle Royale game. It has also made them a lot of money.

According to a report, Epic Games made as much as $3 billion in profit from Fortnite alone. This is a lot of money to be made from a single game, but knowing how crazy popular Fortnite has been in 2018, this is nothing out of the ordinary for Epic Games. They also have their Unreal Engine 4 which they license out to developers and it is used by most of the major games currently out, or upcoming ones.

Fortnite Battle Royale is a free-to-play gameplay mode to Fortnite: Save The World early access game. It has eclipsed the main game and basically evolved into its own separate mode. Fortnite Battle Royale can be played on almost every device including the iOS, Android, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Epic Games makes money through the microtransactions offered in the game.

Fortnite Battle Royale has a season based concept with Battle Pass that lets the users either purchase these battle passes every season with real-life money, or earn their rewards by performing various time-consuming tasks in the game. Judging by the profit that Epic Games has made so far, it appears that this has worked out really well for them. They have also started their own competitor to Steam with Epic Games Store and have reserved several games exclusively for it.
