The Evil Within 2 was released last year for the PS4, PC and Xbox One. The game didn’t launch with any support for HDR or PS4 Pro hardware, however it was later confirmed that an update will be released that should patch in support for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. The update later launched in November, and just as promised, added the support for both the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
Recently, Digital Foundry have conducted a technical analysis on The Evil Within 2 for the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Their analysis is interesting because they tested the game with the 4K patch installed and found that it still runs at native 1080p even though the official patch notes mentioned a resolution of 1260p on the PS4 Pro. They speculate that this might be a glitch that can be hopefully patched by the developers.
As for the Xbox One X version of the game, it runs at the desired resolution of 1800p just as confirmed by the patch notes. This gives the Xbox One X version a clear boost in term of visuals over the PS4 Pro version of the game, especially if you are playing it on a 4K screen.
The Evil Within 2 launched on October 14th for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One. It was developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks.
