Fallout 76 is not faring that well in sales and after the criticism received by the game, the price is quickly dropping leaving those who bought it at launch feeling buyer’s remorse.
Fallout 76 is the first spin-off in the series to focus on online multiplayer and lacks a proper single player Fallout experience. The reviews were particularly brutal for it and the game currently stands at an abysmal 50 average on both Metacritic and Opencritic, which aggregate reviews from online video game critics.
The terrible critical reception has also led to the game facing a free fall in price in almost every region. It is currently being sold in a sales promotion on Amazon for $34.99, which is a 42% discount from its launch price. If we compare it to Hitman 2 and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, both games that launched alongside Fallout 76, they are not getting similar huge discounts.
A similar situation can be seen on Amazon Germany where it is available for 29.99€ which is the steepest discount out of all the recently released games. German Retailer Saturn has slashed the prices of Fallout 76 from 61.99€ to 29.99€, which is more than 50% discount on the game. Another UK retailer has it available for 26.95£ and similarly, you can find deals for other platforms in your region.
Fallout 76 is not available on Steam, but it did face similar discount (33%) on the PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Store as part of the Black Friday promotion. It remains a mystery why Bethesda Softworks is aggressively slashing the price so close to release since it launched on November 14. This will just give the early adopters bad impressions since they paid a higher price for the game. Some users were able to get the extra amount refunded but generally, it will be harder to get them through online support person.
Fallout 76 is available now on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
