Fallout 76 is available right now on both retail and digital platforms, however, the physical version is next to useless if you plan to use it to install the game quickly.
Fallout 76 has received multiple stages of Beta test before launch, and this has led to the development team including many fixes that are currently part of Fallout 76 update version 1.01. This new patch is available on both Xbox One and PS4. The download size here is more than 50 GB on both platforms.

Fallout 76 Disc Install Size; How Much Hard Disk Space Is Required?
One new discovery that was made recently was that if you have the physical disc of Fallout 76, you will have to download the whole game again. Even if you install the disc offline, the data is essentially useless which means the game will prompt you to install a 50+ GB update before it can be started again. If you install from disc while connected to the internet, this will just take 200 MB data from the disc while the rest has to be downloaded from the internet as seen below (source).
This applies to the PS4 version as well, where the game installed to the hard disk requires Fallout 76 update version 1.01 to be installed first before it can be launched. The image below confirms that the download size of the PS4 is around 51.5 GB (source).
This again sets a dangerous precedent by many publishers where they ship product on the disc that doesn’t even end up being utilized at all. It was the case Spyro The Dragon Trilogy and Black Ops 4, and we are seeing it again with Fallout 76.
Fallout 76 will be available on November 14 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
