FIFA 17 Doesn’t Let You Name Your Squad ‘Nigeria’ Due To Censorship

FIFA 17 is available now for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. It utilizes the new Frostbite engine to enhance the overall visuals of the game.

While EA Sports is known to add some kind of censorship to the name creation aspect of the squad and other in-game items, this is the first time they have censored the use of the word ‘Nigeria’ because it contains a sensitive word.

This information was shared on the FIFA reddit where users also confirmed some other choice words that were censored by EA.

This is not the first time of course. EA Sports has always used a censored list of words that aren’t allowed to be used in the game, but provided that their is an actual country called ‘Niger’, maybe EA could have kept them in mind when adding it as a censored word in FIFA 17.

FIFA 17 is available on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. It was developed by EA Sports. The game features a new story mode called “The Journey”.
