Rockstar Games Confirms File Size Requirement For Red Dead Redemption 2

There has been a lot of confusion regarding the install size requirement for Red Dead Redemption 2 and now Rockstar Games has stepped in to clarify them.

According to the official support page for the game, the install size for both the digital and retail version was explained in detail by Rockstar Games. Disc install will require 100 GB of hard disk space on PS4, and 107 GB for the Xbox One. Digital is different and will need 150 GB space on PS4 for the download and installation of the game, while the Xbox One version requires the same as retail, or in other words just 107 GB.

Answer: The amount of space required to install Red Dead Redemption 2 depends on the platform you are using, and the method of installation:

Disc Installation:

  • PS4 – 99 GB installation space
  • Xbox One – 107 GB installation space

Digital Installation:

  • PS4 – 99 GB installation space with an additional 50GB for the installation process
  • Xbox One – 107 GB installation space

In other news, the digital pre-load for the game is available worldwide on the PS4 and Xbox One. If you have pre-ordered Red Dead Redemption 2, you should be able to see the game starting its download that is roughly 92 GB on the PS4 and 88 GB on the Xbox One.
