Final Fantasy themed “Limit Break” Fried Chicken releasing next month in Japan

Japanese convenience store chain Lawson will be bringing Final Fantasy XIV themed Fried Chicken to its branches in Japan starting next month.

The collaboration between Final Fantasy and Lawson is all thanks to Final Fantasy XIV composer Masayoshi Soken who’s a huge fan of the chain’s “kara-age kun” fried chicken and often commented on it on Twitter (via 1,2). This led to Soken supervising the new “Limit Break” flavor, with the flavor part being written as a pun to “braver” (which is the Level 1 Limit Break for Melee DPS characters in Final Fantasy XIV) in Japanese.

The Karaage (Japanese style fried chicken) is apparently labelled as a Burnt Garlic Oil (Mayu) flavor so it should be super yummy. Just try to get them made fresh when you order them.

The promotion releases on January 22, 2019 in participating outlets. We’re still not sure if you’ll be able to get some in-game when buying the Karaage, but we’ll keep you posted as we find out more.
