Final Fantasy XII Remake was possibly confirmed at the recently held Distant Worlds in Pittsburgh. During this event, Distant Worlds composer Arnie Roth revealed in a Q/A session with fans that Final Fantasy XII Remake is in development.
FFNetwork has managed to get the video of this confirmation from Arnie Roth. You can check it out below.
While the word that he used here was Remake, it is entirely possible that he is confusing it with a HD Remaster. A full blown Remake definitely wouldn’t be possible for Final Fantasy XII but a HD Remaster like Final Fantasy X seems more likely here.
Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase had stated in an earlier interview that they plan to give the HD Remaster treatment to Final Fantasy XII depending on the sales of Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster. Since the Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster is a major success for them, selling more than half million copies in Japan alone, this news shouldn’t be surprising if it turns out to be true.
Square Enix are currently attending Gamescom which is set to start next week. They also have plans to show some new reveals there. Maybe we will get an official confirmation at the upcoming event.
