Ubisoft’s servers and Final Fantasy XIV are currently facing heavy DDoS attacks.
Players are facing high latencies and trouble connecting to the aforementioned servers for a while now. The games are throwing out “can’t connect to server” and “couldn’t connect to server in the allotted time” errors.

Ubisoft notified players that they are currently working on the issue:

Thanks.UPDATE 12:30 PM EST: We’re currently experiencing a series of DDoS attacks, which unfortunately are a common occurrence for almost all online service providers. This may impact connections to our games as well as server latency, and we are taking steps to mitigate this issue.
Due to the many of Ubisoft’s games being hosted on the same set of servers games like For Honor, Far Cry 5 and the recently released Assassin’s Creed Odyssey are facing issues connecting to online services.
Players have reported that they’re also facing issues with saves files connected via Cloud Sync to Ubisoft servers. They should hence be making an offline save file to avoid losing out on progress.
Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV is also facing similar issues with them notifying players immediately:

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties due to a DDoS attack.
Players may experience the following issues as a result.We are looking into the way attacks are being made and taking countermeasures. More information will be provided as the situation develops.
