Final Fantasy XV Frame Rate Analysis Reveals An Average of 45 FPS On PS4 Pro

Square Enix has recently released a brand new update for Final Fantasy XV and while it adds some new features to the game, it also finally unlocks the frame rate on the PS4 Pro making for an interesting case.

Hajime Tabata, game director of Final Fantasy XV, had confirmed that they are working on a 60 fps update for Final Fantasy XV but stated that the game runs between 40 to 60 fps. The latest update today confirms this and shows and average frame rate of 40-45 that can also dip to 30 depending on the enemies on screen. The frame rate during exploration in towns also appear to average lower than 40 fps.

You can view the full video analysis by VG Tech below which covers the frame rate of the game on the PS4 Pro after installing the new patch and using the ‘Lite’ mode.

It is not surprising to see that the game can’t hold 60 fps at all times, it is however disappointing to see the frame rate averaging lower than 40 fps during some of the more intensive scenarios. Hopefully Square Enix can also add an option to cap the frame rate to 30 fps on the PS4 Pro in Lite mode.

Final Fantasy XV is available now for the PS4.
