Final Fantasy XV Sales Exceed 8.1 Million Units Worldwide

Square Enix has announced a new sales milestone for Final Fantasy XV today confirming the latest sales figure for the game. Final Fantasy XV has continued to generate interest and steady legs despite launching back on November 29, 2016. The game opened to 5 million copies shipped in day one and has now surpassed 8 million units after the launch of the PC version early in March.

The new update on the official Square Enix website now confirms that the game has sold 8.1 million units worldwide. It launched with a Royal Edition for PS4, PC, and Xbox One in March 2018. This will be followed by a new Season Pass 2 DLC that will release in early 2019. Square Enix has announced a special anniversary celebration panel in November 2018.

Square Enix has also announced the Pocket Edition for PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. While this version of the game can be downloaded now on the PS4 and Xbox One, it will launch ‘soon’ for the Nintendo switch. You can find out more details about it from here.

Final Fantasy XV was directed by Hajime Tabata and developed by Business Division 2 of Square Enix. The game launched in 2016 for the PS4 and Xbox One followed by a PC release in March 2018. Square Enix has more updates and post-launch support planned for the game including a season pass that might get detailed at the upcoming celebration event.
