Microsoft has shared the first image for the upcoming Xbox Duke Controller for the Xbox One. This controller is being re-released again in order to celebrate the Backwards Compatibility announcement for the original Xbox console. Along with the confirmation that original Xbox games will be coming to Xbox One, Microsoft has also revealed that they will release the Duke Controller for the Xbox One complete with new design.
The first look at the Duke Controller can be seen below. Microsoft has also detailed some information regarding the controller confirming it has detachable cable.
The nicknamed ‘Duke’ controller for the original Xbox was big, bold and tough. On June 11, Hyperkin, a video game hardware development company from Los Angeles, announced that – in partnership with Xbox – it is bringing back The Duke for the Xbox One family of devices (Xbox One, Xbox One S, and Xbox One X) and Windows 10 PCs. Hyperkin’s Research and Development team sought the assistance and the blessing of Seamus Blackley, who played an integral part in the original Xbox team.
The Duke sports a faithful recreation of the original controller’s form-factor with some updated features: a logo display screen, left and right bumpers, and a 9 ft. detachable cable.
The controller is currently set to launch later this year along with the original Xbox backwards compatibility program. There is no information about its price or release date yet.
