Players Discover New Gears of War 3 Easter Egg 5 Years After Its Initial Release

Gears of War 3 was originally released on September 20, 2011. Despite being released years ago, it seems like there are still some easter eggs that weren’t discovered by the players.

Some users have manged to discover a new easter egg that they have named as “Locust Duck Hunt” because of its inspiration from the Duck Hunt game. This easter egg was discovered by GoW TacCom and they have shared their method in a video which you can see below.

This easter egg can be discovered in Chapter 2, Act 2, House of Sand. It requires the player to shoot coins that are scattered throughout the level. The coins are hard to spot without the aid of a sniper rifle so make sure to have one in your arsenal once you start this level.

The coins can only be shot in a specific order. Since they are hard to spot, destroying them does give an audio cue. This easter egg can be accomplished on any difficulty setting. The last coin is located in an enemy encounter area and before you kill all the enemies, you need to shot the coin. So make sure you keep atleast one of them alive while the coin is still there.

Once the last coin is destroyed, a new type of area will unlock that basically results in a shooting gallery of the locusts jumping from the ground. It is a mini game that is set in five random locations and has its own high score that rewards the player depending on the amount of enemies that they kill in the mini game.

Gears of War 3 is backwards compatible on the Xbox One so if you have sold your Xbox 360, you can still try to unlock this easter egg on the Xbox One.
