If you are done with the main story quest in the God of War and attempted the challenges of Niflheim and Muspelheim, it will be time to tackle the final and most difficult optional boss fight in the whole game. It is the Valkyrie Queen called Sigrun and her defeat is also tied to the trophy “Chooser of the Slain”. If you are looking for Platinum trophy, you will be required to kill her and this guide will cover some tips on how to defeat her as well as how to unlock this fight.
How To Find Valkyrie Queen Sigrun
To first attempt the challenge, you will need to deliver the 8 helmets belonging to the various Valkyries in God of War. Out of them, 6 will be found in the hidden chambers while the rest of the 2 are all waiting in the Muspelheim and Niflheim realms after post game. These also serve as a good way to prepare for the fight since some of the gear that you will get from attempting the optional content will make you a good contender for this fight giving you more survival options.
Once you are ready to tackle the boss fight and have upgraded you overall equipment level to atleast 6, you will need to find the Valkyrie High Council. This guide covers all of the Valkyrie encounters and the High Council location in detail, but to summarize, it can be found in the Lake of the Nine near the Mason’s Chanel Dock.
Once you reach the giant wooden doors that lead to the Valkyrie High Council, put the 8 helmets on the chairs with pillars to get to fight the Valkyire Queen.
Defeat Valkyrie Queen Sigrun For “Chooser of the Slain” Trophy
The fight will require you a little trial and error in the start. It won’t be easy to predict the attacks of the Valkyrie Queen and in the case of this fight, she can still one shoot kill you even on some of the easier difficulty settings. The challenge of the fight comes from the fact that not only you need to be more agile, but also try to focus on equipping attacks that can stun her so you can exploit it to get some serious damage on her.
The fight should be started with a full rage meter so you can get the upper hand on her. The upgraded Blades of Chaos and Leviathan Axe are both essential in order to quickly kill her. Sadly if you are looking for more than just the regular armor, you will be required to grind for upgrades which can take a significant chunk of your time.
There are some attacks that are easy to figure out and you can dodge out of their way in time. A little tricky to figure out is the attack that sees Sigrun jump in the air to strike at Kratos that can also lead to a stun. It can dish a large amount of damage but the stun is perhaps the worst part of it because you won’t be take control of Kratos leading to the Valkyrie Queen exploiting it for more attacks.
If you are having trouble trying to land your normal attacks, try to start with the Runic attack combos that can stun her. There are two Runic attacks that you can equip on Kratos so make sure that you go for the ones that will let you not only deal a good amount of damage, but also inflict a slight stun on her. There is a Talisman that basically lets you stop time with a proper dodge and it is perhaps one of the most essential accessory for this fight. The time stopping power might work for a little amount of time but it lets you dish out a good chunk of damage on the Valkyrie Queen.
