God of War PS4 was recently confirmed to launch on April 20 with a brand new story trailer. One thing that eagle eyed fans managed to catch on in the new trailer was the visual difference between similar scenes in the story trailer and the initial reveal trailers. Some fans expressed disappointment as it has been the case with such comparisons and preferred the original look of the game.
When one fan approach the Art Director, Raf Grassetti on Twitter, and asked about the claims of downgraded graphics, he clarified that this is just a change in the direction for that particular scene where they reworked some of the light and fog.

Here is the translated version of his tweet.
What has changed is just the direction of light and fog, the content is the same as the E3 trailer, but different context, you will understand when you play. The Jormungandr, Kratos and Atreus continue exactly like the trailer are comparing with other scenes and lights. I’m laughing seeing the comments 🙂
There is no indication that Sony Santa Monica has downgraded any graphics, infact the more colorful look works well for the game now, compared to the dark and grim tone that the earlier trailers showcased for the game. The most obvious difference with this new look is in the look of Jormungandr, who is the giant serpent that Kratos meets in the game.
God of War PS4 will be released on April 20th exclusively for the PS4. It is being developed by Sony Santa Monica Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
