Developer Fullbright has today announced that its game Gone Home will be available for free download this entire weekend until Monday morning 8am. The game can be downloaded from itch.io which is an indie self-publishing platform.
Fullbright co-founder Steve Gaynor announced this free giveaway via twitter whereby he said that this offer is for anyone who is looking for a little “hope and love right now”. Gone home normally costs $19.99, but it is available for free this weekend for Linux, Mac and PC.
Gone Home is a first person adventure walking simulator set way back in 1995 when one fine day you arrive home after a year abroad only to find an empty home in front of you. You have to explore a mansion in Portland, Oregon in order to solve this mystery and find out the whereabouts of your loved ones.
Although the game is available for free, itch.io offers players the option to “pay what you think is fair for the game”. Steve Gaynor said that these proceeds will be passed on to Lambda Legal, a NPO that works for the welfare of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
So Hurry up and use this limited time offer before the weekend is over.
