GTA IV has just been added as a backwards compatibility game for the Xbox One, as revealed by the official Rockstar Games Twitter account. These games were long requested by fans to be added to backwards compatibility and Rockstar Games appear to have finally added them.
If you own a digital version of GTA IV or Episodes from Liberty City, then you can now download the game on your Xbox One by going into your games library. If you own a physical version, then you need to insert the disc into your console in order to add the game to your library.
GTA IV was the first HD GTA game that was originally released on the Xbox 360 and PS3 back in 2008. It was followed by GTA V in 2013 which was later re-released for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
GTA IV is currently only playable on the PC, Xbox 360 or PS3 but with this latest move, it can also be played on the Xbox One. If you own a PS4, then you can try your hand at Sony’s PlayStation Now streaming service otherwise the game is not playable natively on the PS4.
