How to make The Witcher 3 resemble early 2013 footage on PC

If you’ve been disappointed by The Witcher 3’s downgrades, and would like to make the game look closer to how it was back in 2013, now’s your chance. A modder by the name of Drogean has come up with an elaborate re-shade package for the PC version that recreates the game’s cold atmosphere from 2013 without any unwanted side effects.

Based on SweetFX, the mod adds several key visual enhancements that do indeed appear to mimic the look of earlier footage from the game. Here’s a complete list of features as well as the recommended game settings:

  • Better contrast
  • Sharper textures like in the trailers
  • SMAA
  • Smoothing Realistic Atmosphere

Recommended game settings

  • Gamma 1 (default)
  • AA Disabled
  • Sharpening Low
  • Chromatic Aberration Off
  • Vignette Off

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you’ve had a go with the mod, share your impressions with us in the comments below.
