Indie Horror DayLight Uses About 3+ GB of Video RAM On PC At 1080p Resolution

Daylight is the recently released indie horror game for the PS4 and PC. It might be one of the first Unreal Engine 4 title to be released on the PS4 and PC but it also comes with some absurdly high requirements.

According to a benchmark on Russian website GameGPU(via NeoGAF) it consumes about 3+ GB of VRAM on PC. This means that if you are stuck with a graphics card below the minimum video ram, you might be out of luck. The game is also available on the PS4 which has about 8 GB of shared GDDR 5 RAM. It hasn’t been released for the Xbox One though.

This 3+ GB of VRAM usage has been confirmed by multiple posters on various forums, one even adding that despite using the lowest settings and running at 1080p, the game still accumulates a ton of VRAM, about 3167 MB in general.

Whether this chalks up to laziness on the developers behalf or actual demand by the game, it remains to be seen. In any case, these are some ridiculous requirement for a game that doesn’t really seem to be demanding much from the hardware. Daylight runs at 1080p on the PS4.

What do you think about these requirements? Let us know in the comments below.
