Katsura Hashino, director of the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series, gave us a big hint in a blog post. He talked about “unannounced titles” and how they are in development.
Hashino-san promised that there will be a whole bunch of announcements next year, part of Atlus’ 25th anniversary celebration. According to him, the titles are “under zealous development”. The Persona team is working very hard, and Hashino-san assures us that their focus has not been bent by the problems faced by Atlus.
As you probably know, Atlus’ future doesn’t look too vivid. It’s parent company, Index Corporation, had been up for auction after it got bankrupt – something that Hashino-san apologizes for. We do not know if the Persona team’s work is affected by this.
He thinks that the Persona series will live on and has a good future in the video game market. The next Persona game will be fun and stimulating.
My money is on the announcement of Persona 5 next year since the Persona5.jp domain was registered by Index Corporation before. The question is, how much of the game has been completed, and what platform will it come out on? By next year, the next-gen consoles would have launched. Does this mean that Atlus will release the game on them, or will the game release on both generations?
