Kingdom Hearts 2.9 leaked in developer resume, could be headed to both PS3 and PS4

Square Enix has released 6 out of the 7 main Kingdom Hearts games released so far in the form of two HD remasters for the Playstation 3. With the release of the Playstation 4, fans expected the HD collections to release on the new console as well just like Final Fantasy X|X-2 Remaster did. Well now it looks like the games will be coming to both PS3 and PS4 in a brand new compilation collection all six games rumoured to be called Kingdom Hearts 2.9.

Richard VanDeventer is a game directer based in Osaka, Japan who is currently working on multiple Kingdom Hearts games including the rumoured Kingdom Hearts 2.9 according to his LinkedIn profile. VanDeventer’s work at Square Enix is below as shown on his LinkedIn profile:

Kingdom Hearts 2.9 (PS3, PS4) Development (10 Months)

  • Game idea planning and documentation
  • Game check and balance
  • Boss planning
  • Attraction Flow planning and documentation

Kingdom Hearts Ⅲ (PS4, Xbox One) Development (10 Months)

  • Original level planning, documentation and execution for 2 worlds including enemy, item, secrets and event management
  • Mockup creation of 3 worlds including temporary asset creation
  • Game idea planning and documentation
  • Game check and balance
  • Enemy planning and documentation
  • Gummi Ship system planning and documentation
  • Multiplayer planning and documentation
  • Attraction Flow planning and documentation
  • Main scenario planning for 2 worlds
  • Various in-game dialogue writing
  • Translation and interpretation of contact between involved English and Japanese parties including Disney and Pixar
  • Publicity video recording and editing
  • Communication with outsourced companies
  • Holding meetings with Disney and Pixar
  • Team management, meeting management and proceeding recordings

The first thing I noticed about this rumour was the name, but given the history of crazy Kingdom Hearts game names in the past like 358/2 days, the name could very well be real. The previous HD Remasters went by the numbering of 1.5 and 2.5, so 2.9 would be the logical name leading up to Kingdom Hearts III.

I just want Square Enix to include Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance in the collection as it was not included in the previous two collections. If Kingdom Hearts 2.9 does exist expect it to have playable versions of Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts II, Birth By Sleep, Re: Chain of Memories and movie versions of Re:Coded and 358/2.
