Kingdom Hearts 3 recently had a major preview event for the press. The event gave fans and press an opportunity to check out the game before it officially launches later this year. So far, Square Enix has still listed for a 2018 release but with no release date set for it.
According to Eurogamer, Nomura recently shared an official statement on the release of the game confirming that an announcement should be coming “early next month.” This could point towards an announcement being made before the E3 event kicks off.
Nomura was also confident in the development progress of the game and they already have a firm date set for it. “Kingdom Hearts 3 is a title with many people working on it, so we are making final adjustments, but we are pretty firm on a certain date so we hope to reveal it next month.”
Kingdom Hearts 3 was initially revealed at E3 2013 along with Final Fantasy XV. It faced a hurdle in the middle of development once the developers made the jump from Luminous Engine to Unreal Engine 4, but after that, the development was progressing smoothly. If things go as planned, the game might finally launch this year.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is confirmed for the PS4 and Xbox One. It will be the first game in the series to launch on Microsoft’s console. It is also confirmed to support the enhanced hardware for the Xbox One X.
