Kingdom Hearts III Opens To Double The Sales Of Its Predecessor In The UK

Kingdom Hearts III is a great success for Square Enix, at least based on the opening week result of the game in the UK. It has debuted to double the sales of Kingdom Hearts 2, which launched almost 14 years ago.

Kingdom Hearts III was originally revealed at E3 2013 along with Final Fantasy XV. Both of these games were shown to be directed by Tetsuya Nomura. Final Fantasy XV was eventually given to Hajime Tabata and released in 2016. Kingdom Hearts 3 is also out on January 29th, 2019 for the PS4 and Xbox One

Kingdom Hearts III Opens To Double The Sales Of Its Predecessor In The UK

The sales of Kingdom Hearts III in the UK were fairly strong and crushed the opening record of Kingdom Hearts 2. It was not a simple margin either as this didn’t count any digital sales which can contribute to as much as 20 to 30% of overall sales. The physical sales of Kingdom Hearts III were twice that of Kingdom Hearts 2 thus making it a great success for Square Enix.

Resident Evil 2 had to settle on the second spot after the great debut of Kingdom Hearts III. You can find out the rest of the UK weekly sales chart below, courtesy of GamesIndustry.
